Secondly, to overcome barriers to communication within people is through incorrect filtering. Filtering is screening out before a message is passed on to someone else. In business, the filters between you and your receiver are many; secretaries, assistants, receptionists, answering machines, etc. Those same gatekeepers may also ‘translate’ your receiver’s ideas and responses before passing them on to you. To overcome filtering barriers, try to establish more than one communication channel, eliminate as many intermediaries as possible, and decrease distortion by condensing message information to the bare essentials.

There is barriers in communication is also due to language problems. When you choose the words for your message, you signal that you are a member of a particular culture or subculture and that you know the code. The nature of your code imposes its own barriers on your message. Barriers also exist because words can be interpreted in more than one way. Language is an arbitrary code that depends on shared definitions, but there’s a limit to how completely any of us share the same meaning for a given word. To overcome language barriers, use the most specific and accurate words possible. Always try to use words your audience will understand. Increase the accuracy of your messages by using language that describes rather than evaluates and by presenting observable facts, events, and circumstances.

There is a barrier within people in communication is due to poor listening. Perhaps the most common barrier to reception is simply a lack of attention on the receiver’s part. We all let our minds wander now and then, regardless of how hard we try to concentrate. People are essentially likely to drift off when they are forced to listen to information that is difficult to understand or that has little direct bearing on their own lives. Too few of us simply do not listen well! To overcome barriers, paraphrase what you have understood, try to view the situation through the eyes of other speakers and resist jumping to conclusions. Clarify meaning by asking non-threatening questions, and listen without interrupting.

Lastly, it is due to the different backgrounds that people are from. Differences in background can be one of the hardest communication barriers to overcome. Age, education, gender, social status, economic position, cultural background, temperament, health, beauty, popularity, religion, political belief, even a passing mood can all separate one person from another and make understanding difficult. To overcome the barriers associated with differing backgrounds, avoid projecting your own background or culture onto others. Clarify your own and understand the background of others, spheres of knowledge, personalities and perceptions and don’t assume that certain behaviors mean the same thing to everyone.

Singapore Airshow – Indeed, it was one fabulous airshow after the Asian Aerospace that pulled out of Singapore 2 years ago. 

There were alot of people at the airshow. Everyone crowded around the most spectacular “giant”. Singapore Airlines exclusively own 2 of them now, with a new suite class beyond first. Yes, you did not guess wrongly. It is the AIRBUS A380. Wonderful giant indeed. Lastest news commented that this green giant can do off without crude oil and it goes greener with GASES. Everyone was crowding around it, commenting on how big our dear GIANT was. Facial expressions on people’s face tell it all and with them telling one another about how spectucular this giant was. This giant was indeed the CENTRE OF ATTRACTION. Positive feedbacks are heard almost everywhere around the airshow compound. Viewers on ground surround the A380 as it made it grand tow by Singapore Airlines Engineering Company (SIAEC) to get ready for the airshow. People are willing to risk their lives by climbing over the fencing just to watch the A380 making its way up the skies. Special squad units from the police were deployed to keep viewers in control while towing the A380 and making sure that everyone is at safety.

Wonderful stuns perform by the airbus A380 in the skies. People roared as it made it appearance in the skies and cameras start clicking NON-STOP.

The performance at the airshow was stunning. The sounds from the different fighter jet from the Singapore Armed Forces. The different stuns they perform in the sky. People are cheering and clapping their hands in appreciation of what is being put up in the skies. Gathered under then hot sun from 1215 to 1345, I could see people enjoyed themselves by the satisfaction on their faces, their word of joy and laughter they had from the show.

A lot of different types of communication can be seen on people at the Singapore Airshow. People from infants to the elderly came and see the exhibition.

Verbal Communication Seen

• People exchange their excitedness about the different kinds of exhibitions that was available at the site
• Calling one another out from afar to look at some unique exhibitions
• Roared, cheered loudly during the airshow display
• Asking the exhibitors questions

Non-verbal Communications Seen

• Cameras clicking away showing the excitedness of people at the airshow
• People are queing up anxiously to see the different displays
• Police are deployed to keep people away for safety reasons
• People rushing to the taxi-ing grounds when airbus is being towed in and out

For all those who missed this year airshow, do not fret. There will be one next year or the year after. Do take this opportunity to take a look. =)

There was once I felt quite irritated with someone, but I refused to say it out. I try to act as calm as I could but my friends could still tell that I was irritated. Well, I find that it is difficult to hide your feelings at times even though you communicate with others. Our own individual non verbal communications will always show who we are and what we are thinking.

Well, I am not too sure about others but I know that my friends can read me through my non verbal communications. Hehe, till I blog again

The tune of this song is from “Hey there Delilah” by Plain White T. However, this middle eastern guy used the tune of song to express his feelings to his girlfriend by changing the lyrics of the song dedicated to her.

Communications do come in various forms. Improvising a song for his girlfriend 3,000 miles away from him is indeed amazing. From the wordings of the song that he composed, I could see that he misses his home and his girlfriend super deeply. The words he uses and the different actions that he had done showed his feelings. Even people who do not know him can sense his lonliness alone where he is.

 Though the words used are somewhat strong and a little towards racisim towards the muslim community. It is really an interesting song to listen when you are stress. =)

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL

Day 3 of Chinese New Year

Went to watch Ah Long Pte Ltd. A super hilarious show. Seeing all their actions, I could understnad what they are trying to say. Alot of actions from the actors and actresses. From their actions and facial expressions, I know what the movie is all about. There are also several different dialects used in the movie, whereby people could comprehend the different types of dialects. With different actions and the different dialects used in the movie, it makes the movie more “colourful” and entertaining.

Though the plot of the story isn’t that fabulous, I still laugh out heartliy from the actions and words being said by the actors and actresses. Indeed, a real comdey for one who are stressed or those who need a break.

Just few days ago, I was supposedly to meet my friend to chill out. But due to the short hand that we use on sms-es, I actually interpreted the whole message wrongly. We were suppose to meet up but in the end, due to my misinterpretation, we ended up having a miscommunication. SIGHS. Why do we have miscommunications in today’s world. Though I rushed down to meet my friend in the end, her facial expression tells it all. She was rather pissed off with me because I did not turn up and I made her wait for almost 1 hour. Gosh, if only we know perfectly what they other party is trying to say, if not, such things do happen.

I tried to salvage the situation by apologising to her and told her it was a misunderstanding, but her initial reaction was to ignore. I was close to dispair, but in the end, I managed to cool her down from her anger.

WORDS DO SPEAK A THOUSAND WORDS. BECAREFUL OF WHAT YOU TYPE OR SAY AS IT MAY HURT THE OTHER PARTY.

Thursday after Math Class, headed to Lido to watch a movie with the UB hood. Caught the movie Dan in Real Life. The movie was supposedly to be a comedy but it does not seems as funny as most comedy should have been. The plot of the movie was not too difficult to comprehend.  The story unfolds in a way that feels fresh, unique, and distinctly “indy” in style as compared to the other movies. Well, it is a rather short movie. The show portraits touching and heart warming scenes where viewers have a feel of what they are doing in the movie. Overall, the movie was just okay. A fun-filled movie apart of the some dirty jokes and some nudity scene. Overall, hanging out with the UB hood was indeed amazing. =D
